The pilates practice

What is pilates ?

Who was Joseph Pilates ?

Joseph Pilates was a gymnast and boxer, he was imprisoned at the start of the First World War. It was at this time that he designed a system of original exercises, known today as “mat work” which he called “contrology”.

A few years later, he was transferred to another camp where he served as a nurse for war wounded. So he transforms bed springs into rehabilitation equipment ? by creating movement resistance for bedridden people. Assisted by his wife Clara, also a nurse, it is certainly thanks to her that pilates is recognized today as a form of exercise based on movement with the aim of fitness, but also health, by adapting the exercises for all levels and body types.
